Do you have any rituals you like to partake in on a weekend?

Maybe it's just a slower start to your day than a typical weekday?
A particular walk you enjoy, or a coffee shop to go to?
Something healthy perhaps like the gym, or a swim?
Or maybe you do your weekly shop at a weekend, or a big clean?

Let us know what you rituals and habits you have on a weekend... any of them planned for this coming weekend?

It's funny because I used to treasure my Saturday and Sunday rituals, the weekend is such a special time when you're working all week. But slowly, as the time passes from work into a retired life, the weekend looses some of its magic. I wonder if any other retired members agree. X

I totally agree WendyG41 ! Once you're long retired the weekends are just another day in the week. And often a very lonely time for those on their own as friends will meet up with their families then and you end up with just your own company. My elderly neighbour gets very down then so we often have a morning coffee and do a quiz together on a Saturday morning to help pass the time. Sunday morning is a walk with the Ramblers and many there are on their own and really look forward to it as they would not otherwise talk to anyone else all day. Sorry NickEmmett, but you'll probably get a more upbeat response from a younger working Member!

WendyG41 I absolutely share that sentiment. I took early retirement a year ago and everyday seems like a Friday and a Saturday!!! Sundays still feels the same but I'm generally confused about what day of the week it is!!

NickEmmett I have a few weekend rituals. When I remember it is in fact a Saturday I'm busy teaching yoga in the morning or doing farming stuff in the afternoon but I always stop at 4pm and have a drink, normally a beer or a whisky and that marks the end of the day. My other is on a Sunday I have two warm croissants, two digestive biscuits breakfast tea and watch gardeners world on catch up, I absolutely love it!!!!
          Good subject this!

NickEmmett I am with CeliaHadfield . My weekends are much the same as a weekday, especially a Saturday with a Sunday probably the quieter on the roads.

I do like our Sunday lunches though in the company of an ex social group of friends when they are held in accessible venues. However we prefer weekday outings and lunches.

To be fair, my weekend rituals are not dissimilar to my weekday ones, they're just a bit slower as I don't have to get the kids ready for school. However, they do often revolve around football - training on a Saturday and matches on a Sunday - the Sunday kick off times often dictate what's possible in the afternoons. I tend to read a bit more in the mornings, I like to take my time over things like breakfast and my coffee making. I like family tea and Saturday night TV or a movie, walks on a Sunday, often with a pub somewhere halfway! I still like to get a newspaper on a weekend, sometimes it's a Saturday one, sometimes it's a Sunday - I quite enjoy having a walk out to pick one up. We have a lovely park in my town so, if the weather's not too bad, I like to take my time on the way back and maybe grab a coffee from my favourite coffee shop to sip on a bench somewhere.

The weeks can be so fast paced and busy that weekends are a time (usually, but not always) that I can slow down a little bit.
