So, some friends made me go London AGAIN!! It was great but still freaks me out, I'm like a lost Norfolk boi...!!! We went to Camden brick lane which seems to be the most cool place ever! Graffiti and street artists everywhere and such great food. We also went to petticoat lane and ambled around. Ate in China town and drank in pubs, brilliant weekend.
So the bit I was dreading was the Tate Modern! Just not my thing at all. It was...ok....my plan was to kick over that tin of beans or make Tracey's bed and get kicked out, but no! So I was on the verge of really disliking it in a it's ain't bad way until I saw the dog bed and heard people saying they get it but not in an obvious way..I didn't I have 5 dog beds at home, they smell and aren't what id call art..
So as a disclaimer (probably nessasary nowadays) this is my take on the Tate, go yourself and have a look and I have got pics of my dog beds I'll happily send!!
    Peace. Gx

YogaGary please do share the pics!

Sounds like a lovely weekend, Camden is a favourite of mine. My baby sister is a bit of a goth, and when she was around 18 I took her there (you know, trying to be the cool sister while my mum was quietly freaking out about her looking like an Anne Rice vampire on a random Thursday). I figured a bit of nonchalance around her style would do her good, so we hit Camden and had a brilliant time. We went to Cyberdog, listened to a couple of buskers, and walked along the canals.

That was already eight years ago and she’s all grown up now, married and everything, but every time I go to Camden it reminds me of her: wide-eyed and happy to be out with me. I think I even have a picture somewhere of us wearing some ridiculous hats.

Where did you eat in Chinatown? I’m always looking for good recommendations.

Lily cyber dog was the best!!!! What a shop, never seen anything like it. You did make me chuckle Ann rice vampire on a random Thursday!!! I've never dressed like everyone else never followed the main stream fashion fads and definitely felt at home in Camden and brick lane. The buskers were amazing and you have to question why aren't they mainstream famous but then thats probably their worst nightmare!

Sounds like fun YogaGary - I do like a weekend in London, and your post reminded me that my kids have been hankering for a trip so will have to see what we can do before Christmas maybe!

I just enjoy pottering about like the Northerner I am, wandering up and down streets, seeing the sights, drinking coffee. I really enjoy the St. James' area, although my bank balance doesn't necessarily suit it. I also like Brick Lane and the area there. I experienced that area first when my wife exhibited some of her art with her college at the Truman Brewery - we had a fun week for that, some great curry houses, and the market. I'm also a sucker for a bookshop and some secondhand books.

YogaGary London has always been a scary place for me. I have only ever gone to London for meetings and then got the hell out a.s.a.p., though I did stay the night at a Travelodge once following a meeting.
I always picture London as a place full of pick-pockets or people that are looking out for tourists or non-locals who standout a mile. I always try an behave like a local and blend in but never know if I do or not.
I know the London of today is not like that- or is it, but everything seems so fast and furious there, nothing like the quiet slowness of Devon, well slower anyway if you take into account of the cities of Exeter and Plymouth

BrianGotts Dear All, I was born and educated in London and worked there in between tours overseas .London has so many attractions ,old and new and children love it but yes, we need to be street wise because our great capital is becoming increasingly scary.
            Still worth a visit though.
